Gastrointestinal endoscopy — 4K monitor
A 4K screen beyond what a clinic normally has, so polyps are harder to miss. A 5.4 mm transnasal gastroscope (GIF-XP 290N) — thin enough to talk during the examination — and the CF-EZ 1500DI colonoscope on an OLYMPUS EVIS X CV-1500. We insufflate with carbon dioxide, so there is less bloating, and the passive-bending insertion tube is gentle on the abdomen. NBI helps judge whether a lesion is a tumour, and TXI assesses gastritis in fine detail. Polypectomy is performed here. Where needed we refer you to Dr. Kadokawa at the National Cancer Center, which has capsule endoscopy — on the same day you took the laxative, where possible.
